DECOBIKE BREAKS BIKE SHARING RECORDS

2012 marked a record-breaking year for DecoBike LLC’s Miami Beach bike sharing program with the country’s highest increase in ridership.  With 1,290,606 rides logged in 2012 alone, it’s the busiest fleet per-bike of any US bikeshare program and represents more than a 100% increase in ridership from 2011. The program is a true leader with nearly 2 million total trips logged– more usage than all other US bike share programs combined, with the exception of Washington DC’s government-owned Capital Bikeshare.

DecoBike Miami Beach also continues to lead the country for memberships. To date it has generated more than 500,000 casual and subscribing members combined, far more than other any other US programs.

2013 rings in DecoBike’s scheduled expansion into a variety of new territories including the city of San Diego and other areas of Miami-Dade County, adding an estimated 240 new stations and 2,400 DecoBikes into the streets with other new programs to be announced in the coming months.

City of San Diego selects DECOBIKE LLC to Implement & Operate City-Wide Bikeshare Program

After completing a competitive bidding process to implement a city-wide bicycle sharing program, Mayor Jerry Sanders and the City of San Diego selected DecoBike as the highest ranked firm.  Originating as a strategic public-private partnership between the city and DecoBike, the system will be manufactured, owned and operated by DecoBike.  “The bike share program is a perfect fit for the San Diego lifestyle as it promotes healthy living and clean transportation,” said Mayor Jerry Sanders. “It will also help facilitate travel to and from trolley and bus stations by providing last-mile solutions for commuters.”

“Building public-private partnerships like this deserves a lot of credit,” said Andy Hanshaw, executive director of San Diego County Bicycle Coalition (SDCBC), who served on the Mayor’s review panel assisting in the selection of DECOBIKE. “We appreciate Mayor Sanders moving ahead to develop this partnership and look forward working with DECOBIKE to make this the best bike sharing program in the country.”

“Bike sharing has found a great new home in the forward-thinking city of San Diego—a city whose residents and visitors embrace life outdoors and value sustainability in their transportation options,” says C. Reese, Chief Marketing Officer for DecoBike. “We look forward to pedaling San Diego forward and delivering a world-class bikeshare program.”

San Diego will receive the next generation of DecoBike stations and custom bicycles.  The initial size and scope of the program will be approximately 180 solar-powered station locations and a fleet of 1,800 DecoBikes.  “The atmosphere and climate of San Diego make it incredibly well-suited for bike sharing. We are confident our San Diego system will become one of North America’s leading bikeshare programs,” stated Bonifacio Diaz, DecoBike’s COO.  Riders can expect to enjoy one of North America’s most comprehensive bike sharing networks featuring excellent bike-to-resident ratios and very favorable station densities in the service zones. The program is expected to come online by fall or winter of 2013.

Residents and visitors in the region will have access to the station network which will stretch from La Jolla to Barrio Logan through Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, Hillcrest, Balboa Park, Old Town San Diego and Downtown San Diego.  Flexible memberships and rentals will accommodate the needs of those seeking to use the bike sharing program for both commuting and recreation.  A handy webpage and mobile apps will allow patrons to locate stations and available bikes in real-time.  Bikes are equipped with LED lighting, adjustable seats and a basket suitable for a laptop or a beach bag.

“We are very excited to be selected by the City of San Diego to implement and operate a public bicycle sharing program for all residents and visitors to enjoy as a fun, healthy and environmentally friendly transportation alternative,” said Ricardo Pierdant, President of DecoBike.

With strong financial support from a variety of major brands, bike sharing programs have gained much momentum in the past year. The San Diego program will offer very unique brand recognition for corporate partners, which is heavily enhanced by the goodwill of being a supporter for the community’s bicycle sharing program.

DecoBike Miami Beach Bikeshare pedals past 1,000,000 rides!!

The DecoBike Miami Beach bikeshare program reached an impressive mark on Saturday June 2nd by logging its 1,000,000th ride just fourteen months after launching. This statistic is a great example of the growing demand for bicycle sharing programs and it shows that bikeshare riders can  power change in their community by replacing local car trips with a bikeshare bicycle.

DecoBike in Miami Beach and Capital Bikeshare in Washington DC are the only bikeshare programs in the US to achieve this level of ridership.  DecoBike, which won the US Conference of Mayors City Livability Award on 2011, touts the best bike to resident ratio in North America and the most stations per square mile. Just as notable, the Miami Beach program was the first privately funded city-wide bikeshare that didn’t use any tax  dollars and is 100% privately funded.

“DecoBike has really done an excellent  job with the development and operation of our program here in Miami Beach. They have exceeded expectations, won awards and produced amazing results for our city’s residents and visitors,” says Miami Beach City Commissioner and “green” advocate Michael Gongora.

Between March 15, 2011 and June 2, 2012, DecoBike riders accomplishedthe following great achievements:

·        Made 1,003,520 trips

·        Journeyed 2,950,808 miles

·        Logged 17,704,848 minutes of ride time

·        Offset 2,550,000+ pounds of harmful CO2

·        Burned 100,000,000+ calories

WEST PALM BEACH DDA BRINGS THE POPULAR DECOBIKE PROGRAM TO DOWNTOWN FOR NATIONAL URBANISM CONFERENCE

WEST PALM BEACH DDA BRINGS THE POPULAR DECOBIKE PROGRAM TO DOWNTOWN FOR NATIONAL URBANISM CONFERENCE

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 30, 2012)  DecoBike is joining forces with the West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) to showcase its “green,” alternative form of transportation during the Congress for the New Urbanism’s national CNU 20 event in West Palm Beach. The “bikeshare” program will offer a fun, environmentally friendly way for more than 1,000 attendees at the conference to move around the Downtown District. It will operate from Wednesday, May 9 through Saturday, May 12, and offer solar-powered bikeshare stations and dozens of DecoBikes at sites around Downtown West Palm Beach.

“We are very excited to be bringing our bicycle sharing program to the streets of Downtown West Palm Beach,” said Mr. Reese, chief marketing officer of DecoBike LLC. “It’s a great way to get a taste of an improved quality of life for those who live, work and play in the area. It’s also a terrific way for CNU 20 attendees and other visitors to get to know the city.”

DecoBike station locations include the Clematis District’s Centennial Square Park at the waterfront, CityPlace, and the Palm Beach County Convention Center. CNU 20 attendees can register for a free pass to access the system while members of the public wishing to check out a bike can do so just by swiping their credit card at the stations.

“The Earth-friendly bicycle sharing concept fits perfectly into the downtown lifestyle and we’ve been working towards bringing it to the area for a couple years. DecoBike has been such a success in Miami, so when the partnership opportunity arose with CNU, we couldn’t wait to introduce it here in Downtown West Palm Beach,” said Raphael Clemente, executive director of the DDA. “We hope locals and visitors alike see the benefit of mixing healthy entertainment with eco-conscious decisions.”

DecoBike’s Miami-Miami Beach bike sharing program has been heralded as one of the most successful bikeshare programs in North America, logging an average of more than 100,000 rides per month so far this year. Since its launch about one year ago, DecoBike’s riders have offset more than 2,400,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions, journeyed more than 2,500,000 miles and burned over 90,000,000 calories.

The DecoBike demonstration will allow people to power their own journeys at their own pace and experience the benefits of bike sharing first-hand.  Bikeshare programs have become one of the most desired features of forward-thinking communities around the globe, both as “green” transportation and a healthy leisure amenity.  The results prove that individuals can have a positive impact on themselves and their communities through bike sharing.
