Conde Nast Traveler’s “A Perfect Weekend in Miami” featuring DecoBike

DecoBike station in South Beach

Yes, it’s true…DecoBike is essential for of the perfect weekend in Miami! Whether you are a local or a visitor, DecoBike serves many needs. Take a cruise around Lincoln Road and Ocean drive, go the gym or your office, or just park your car and ride to the sands of South Beach and take in all the sights. DecoBike does it all!

We are pleased to be featured in the February 2012 issue of Conde Nast Traveler, “A Perfect Weekend in Miami,” by Eimear Lynch who wrote:  “Borrow a DecoBike from one of 100 stations around the island (one hour, $5), and take it down Ocean Avenue. As dance-party favorites blare from boom boxes on the beach, you’ll pass all the beloved Miami stereotypes—mamacitas in barely there bikinis, musclemen, in-line skaters—on your way to grassy South Pointe Park. Linger to watch the boats go by (one of the few moments of calm you’ll find in this perpetually frenetic city), then bike back up to collect your car.”

It’s really that easy and thousands of people hit the streets every day on DecoBikes to have fun, save time commuting, forgo the hassles of parking an automobile and to help reduce the CO2 footprint of the community. Not to mention it’s a great way to burn calories and stay in shape. DecoBike is the official bikeshare program for the city of Miami Beach and the world-famous South Beach Art Deco district. Keep pedaling forward DecoBikers!

The DecoBike display was a part of the City of Miami Beach’s “Live, Work, Play” exhibit. DecoBike is a public-private program that operates under a special partnership with DecoBike LLC and the City of Miami Beach. DecoBike developed this program as one of North America’s largest and most used bicycle sharing programs.  The DecoBike display touted its Benefits Dashboard, showing the roughly 60,000,000 calories burned by its riders as well as a CO2 footprint reduction for the community in excess of 1,400,000 pounds. NBC Miami: Decobike is the Best Ride on the Beach

Art Deco Weekend comes around once a year and draws thousands of people who flock to Ocean Drive while cars are kept away. Food vendors, street performers, models, magicians, parades and more, Art Deco Weekend was fun for all to enjoy. The weather was perfect for the community to take to the streets. With traffic and parking congestion at its peak, it’s no wonder why NBC Miami named Decobike the “Best Ride on the Beach.” Nearly 10,000 people opted for good old fashion Decobike pedal power as the easiest and most fun way to navigate South Beach. Of course with self-powered LED lights, handy mobile apps to locate bikes and dozens of solar-powered bicycle sharing stations to pick them up and drop them off, Decobike is no ordinary bike.

DECOBIKE TEAMS UP WITH MIAMI INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW

Award-Winning Bike Share Program to Provide Sustainable Transportation for Boat Show Patrons

MIAMI BEACH, FL – DECOBIKE has quickly become the new and “green” way to get around the Miami Beach area. This urban transportation solution is designed to replace short, local trips normally made car with DECOBIKES, and is aimed at saving riders from the hassles of expensive and hard to find parking for automobiles. Aside from saving riders time and money, it’s also the best way to experience the Miami Beach area.

With a city-wide network of more than 85 kiosk locations and 1,000 custom DECOBIKES, the program is available to all residents and visitors, 24 hours a day. DECOBIKE kiosks are automated and are conveniently located around the Miami Beach Convention Center as well as most major hotels, shops, restaurants, beaches and other attractions to help eliminate the need for a cars or taxis while in the city. “DECOBIKE is a fun and sustainable transportation alternative for our patrons,” says Melissa Gaffney of the National Marine Manufacturers Association.

Since its launch in March, DECOBIKE has logged nearly 550,000 rides in Miami Beach and their bikes have traveled more than 1.3 million miles.  The program recently won the prestigious US Conference of Mayors City Livability Award thanks to the benefits it confers upon the community. It also is the country’s most comprehensive bike share system featuring the best bike-to-resident ratio and most stations per square mile, making it a viable public transportation option.

Riders can access all available DECOBIKES at any kiosk throughout the City of Miami Beach and its famous South Beach Art Deco District. Appropriately geared up to serve the patrons of the Miami International Boat Show, there are multiple DECOBIKE kiosk locations surrounding the Miami Beach Convention Center as well as the in-water display adjacent to the Biscayne Bay Marriot and Sea Isle Marina in the Downtown Miami area, making it the first bike sharing program in the world to serve as an alternative form of public transportation for an international boat show and yachting event of this magnitude. Locating kiosks and available bikes is made easy with online maps and mobile apps.
For visitors to the area, there are several affordable rental options available, ranging from 30 minutes to 24 hours, while residents can gain access to the system via long-term membership subscriptions. Visitors do not need to pre-register and only need a valid credit or debit card. Patrons can simply approach any kiosk and select any available bike they wish. Bikes can then be docked at any kiosk in the city when done riding. When ready to ride again, riders can check out another bike from any station in the city by swiping their card again. The system remembers who the rider is and no additional charges will be incurred during the selected rental period. “Ride, Dock & Repeat” is an easy way for riders to remember how the program works.

DECOBIKE is expanding services into several other U.S. cities and is developed and operated by DECOBIKE, LLC. The Miami International Boat Show runs from February 16-20, 2012 and is one of the largest boat shows in the world, operated by the National Marine Manufacturers Association.  DECOBIKE will also be providing bicycle sharing and rental services throughout the Yacht & Brokerage Show venue along Collins Avenue and Indian Creek in Miami Beach, which hosts one of the world’s largest collection of megayachts and is operated by Show Management.

DECOBIKE has always planned to work with global brands and sponsors as a part of their business model thanks to the unique exposure the program offers advertisers.  Out Of Home (OOH) media provides visibility 24/7/365, but DECOBIKE achieves something even better – the branded bikes also travel in more intimate thoroughfares around restaurants and retail outlets as well as residential areas completely unattainable by conventional outdoor advertising and are always stationed in the busiest public right-of-ways.
